Lucky in Love

Rob and I
Rob and I – 2017

I am one lucky son of a gun!

Sure I am here seeking a kidney donor as the result of a genetic kidney disease, but how lucky to have something that can be tended to by modern medicine.

How lucky I have been too many times to recount.

My good luck hit the stratosphere, though, in love. I was fortunate enough to meet the world’s best guy and get to spend a most of my life with him thus far. Like anyone’s, our story contains happy and sad occurrences, but has ultimately been a joyous event I would not trade for the world. He is the defining element of my life.

But this is not the place for me to wax poetic about my love life. I could go on for weeks about Rob if allowed. Suffice to say I am traveling transplant road well stocked with  love, friendship, laughter and a strong shoulder to lean on.

His support was never more evident than, after finding out a while back of some difficulty with his own kidney, one of the first concerns he voiced to the doctor was whether or not this prevented him from donating to me (it does). The fact that he could possibly be so worried and curious about that before asking most details and questions about his own difficulty simple describes him so well and is one of the many reasons I adore him.

 The Man Himself

Again, this is not the time and place to relate my love story, wonderful as it is. I just wanted those who do not know me to realize what a wonderful cornerstone I am lucky enough to have. Rob’s foundation in my life, plus that of my incredible immediate and extended family and multitude of friends old and new, offer me the all the love, support and assistance I could possibly need for this and any other life challenges that might come along.

I am truly one lucky son of a gun!
